1897 Wood Engraving Charles Keene Punch Art Lavinia Brounjones Series XAY6 SCA5 Across the Grand CanalThis is an original 1897 black and white wood engraving of Miss Lavinia Brounjones being confronted by an armed Gaelic man when she sits to sketch a native fort. The Brounjones series was one of the only Keene ever had published in Punch, which effectively illustrated his method of crafting a story. The original piece was featured in the British magazine in 1866. CONDITION This 114+ year old Item is rated Near Mint Very Fine+. Light aging throughout.
