5 1/2" wide x 3 3/8" tall

I have not attempted to polish this as I like the patina

It's big and chunky--16  1/4" inches long when stretched out and 1 5/8 inches wide and deep --and the ball makes a nice rattle in its cage when shaken

and a hairline split extending from it

This piece is in excellent condition (perhaps there is a bit of dust on the inside

Philip D. Armour, a native of New York State, made a substantial fortune in the pork packing business in Milwaukee in the immediate aftermath of the Civil War, then In 1875 moved to Chicago to take charge of Armour & Co.
