though the securing straps are mostly missing

It is held in place by wood pieces and not the original leather wedges

Unfortunately the last number of the date is not legible

This is a wonderful condition M1938 dispatch map case with its original shoulder strap. Its nicely stamped U. S. on front and marked on the reverse: BOYT 42 This example retains a charting board on the interior. All inner compartments are intact with no damage, lift the dot snaps function perfectly. A really nice map case from the early war period in Khaki. Great shape overall, ready for further research and display.
