but I think this particular piece quite transcends the context of its making

Someone certainly put a lot of effort into it, crocheting the body with what looks to be silk cord, with red felt for its crest and beak and matching red felt lining. And button eyes on either side too. 8 1 8" long measured straight across from beak to back. Very good, clean condition.
