Instituted in 1906. 5th Period (1929 ). In silver gilt with red, white and blue enamels, measuring 71. 5 mm (w) x 73. 5 mm (h), vertical pinback flanked by dual stays, intact enamels, centrepiece insignia slightly loose versus the base, extremely fine. Footnote: The Order of Merit was instituted on September 4, 1906 and awarded for meritorious service provided by foreigners to the Republic of Chile, in five grades.
