The undersides of the leaves are a deep burgundy, which adds a rich colour contrast when the leaves move throughout the day. Like other Calatheas, this plant exhibits nyctinasty, meaning its leaves fold upwards at night and spread out again in the morning. This variety has a clumping growth habit, producing multiple stems from
